6 | 7 | 8 7p Atlanta Brasil: Our Club Causes & Community Projects Calendar News & Media Members Sack Pack - Lunches for Table on Delk Vinings Cumberland Rotarians invite the community to join them on the Second Tuesdays of the month to assemble lunch sacks (chips, sandwiches, etc.) that are distributed the next day by The Table on Delk to children getting off the school bus (during the school year) and through programming (during the summer) in the immediate vicinity of Delk Road and Interstate 75. The Table on Delk is committed to serving individuals at risk of sex-trafficking. Part of that mission includes addressing critical needs of mostly women and their young families to decrease that risk, desperation, and food insecurity. The Sack Pack is held in the Community Room at Fire Station No. 5 in Vinings (4336 Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, GA 30339). Please park next store at Another Broken Egg (which will be closed at that time) and follow the sidewalk. Lieutenant General Leslie C. Smith, US Army (retired) currently serves as the Vice President for Leadership and Education, Association of the United States Army, a visiting leadership professor at Parker College of Business - Georgia Southern University, a director on several corporate boards and the CEO for LV Smith Corporate Group, LLC. LTG Smith received his commission from Georgia Southern University (GSU) in 1983 as a Field Artillery Officer. In 1985, he graduated from GSU with a bachelor's degree in accounting and as a distinguished military graduate and branched as a Chemical Officer. LTG Smith's final assignment on active duty from 2018 to 2021 was as The Inspector General, Office of the Secretary of the Army, the first Chemical officer to serve in that position. As a general officer his assignments included the 25th Chief of Chemical and Commandant of the United States Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear School, Commanding General 20th Support Command (CBRNE) (responsible for leading Explosive Ordnance Disposal and CBRN Soldiers in 15 states and 3 - 5 countries, the Commanding General of the United States Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood (the first chemical officer to do so), and as Deputy the Inspector General. As the Vice President for leadership and Education for AUSA, Les spends his time building coalitions across all components of the Army, the AUSA’s 122 chapters, with industry and academia. He enables these coalitions to build trust and advocacy not only for Soldiers, but also Civilians and industry that supports a strong national defense. He is currently part of a tri-author team publishing the book titled: “All the Difference: Six Leadership Actions to Bridge Perspectives, Strengthen Teams, and Create Value” (Summer 2026). LTG Smith holds a Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Arts degree in national security strategy from the National Defense University. 35th Annual Rivers Alive! Cleanup Saturday, September 19, 2026 Headquartered at Chattahoochee Nature Center 9135 Willeo Rd, Roswell, GA 30075 Rivers Alive, Georgia’s annual river cleanup, comes to Roswell on September 19. The event, co-hosted by Keep Roswell Beautiful and the City of Roswell, is part of a statewide campaign to preserve Georgia’s 70,100 miles of rivers and streams. Small groups of volunteers will be dispersed across the city to perform beautification projects, including litter pick-ups, invasive plant and shrub removal, mulching, native plant planting, and storm drain marking. RegistrationRegister online. The registration deadline is September 16. Pre-registered groups will be assigned a task based on preference. We are delivering pet food to those in need. We will meet at OpenHand at 10:00 am. If you have never volunteered before, there is a short orientation. Otherwise you can show up, load your car and hit the road to help our furry friends and their people. Typical deliveries take 90-minutes. There is also an option to deliver people food for Open Hand.
